INTERIM MINISTER OF CONGREGATIONAL CARE

As many of you are already aware, I’m going to be providing some pastoral services during these months when we are without a minister. My title will be Interim Minister of Congregational Life. I’ll be available for pastoral counseling to help with crises and that kind of thing, visitation (especially with homebound folk), and will preach once a month. (The Worship Committee has creative plans for the other Sundays.)

For those of you who don’t already know me, here are the basics. Hold onto your hats, my seminary education and ordination is Baptist. Please don’t run for the hills. That’s not where I am theologically or personally anymore. I have changed drastically over the years!

Family and career stuff:  I’m a divorced and long-single lesbian. I have a 41-year-old son and a whole slew of grandkids, one of whom lives with me. My home is a couple of blocks from the church. I spent 16 years as the chaplain at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, but had to retire early for my health back in 2012. I became a part of First UU Stockton four years ago, arriving about the same time as Rev. Matt. I no longer consider myself in the Christian camp, but do hope that I am still a follower of Jesus, the teacher. I believe all belief systems are valid because we’re all seeking spiritual enlightenment, spiritual comfort, spiritual guidance, and I appreciate the way our congregation does that together from a variety of different viewpoints.

I look forward to getting to know those of you that I don’t know yet and I hope that I can at least fill some of the gap while we look for an actual minister. When we find one, I’ll go back to being a regular church member. Thank-you and please feel free to give me a call if you’d like to visit.
