Upcoming Worship Services

We worship together every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Services usually last about an hour. All are invited to stay for coffee and conversation immediately afterward.

May 6 – Why We Sainted Emerson, and Why We Shouldn’t Have

Ralph Waldo Emerson began his career as a Unitarian Parish minister, but he resigned after three years, finding ministry (and especially pastoral care) not to his liking. He became one of the most influential American thinkers and philosophers of the 19th century, especially famous for “Transcendentalism,” essentially a new way of looking at religion as the intuition of each individual rather than an institution of doctrines. It’s difficult to build church community that way!

May 13 – Mother, May I?

Reflections on the “mixed blessing” of Mother’s Day and how it affects us all in different ways. As someone said, “A Freudian slip is when you say one thing but mean your mother.”

The annual Flower Communion will be held today. Please bring flowers to share!

May 27 – The Myth of Memorial Day

Memorial Day is often a day that not just remembers those who died serving their country, but seems to glorify war and encourage an almost religious patriotism that claims our country the one God loves best with “God on our side.” Perhaps it is time to make it a day to celebrate peace…
