Religious Education: Junior/Senior High

We welcome teens into the following free programs at our church, although of course they (and children of any age) are always welcome to stay in the service if they prefer.

Adult Religious Education: We offer new topics every semester. Please see our Adult RE page for current offerings.

Bridging: For 12th graders, the Bridge program is a short series of workshops intended to support the transition in graduating seniors’ spiritual lives from living with their parents to living away at college or on their own. The program culminates with a commitment ceremony to celebrate their growth from youth to adulthood.

Choir: Anyone aged 12 and up is invited to join our choir, which performs during Sunday services from September through early June. There are no auditions required–just a love of singing! Rehearsals are usually Sunday mornings, 9-10 am.

Coming of Age: Intended for youth who can commit to the entire program, this self-guided curriculum takes place over the course of 1-2 years under the guidance of an adult mentor. Designed as a checklist of fun and diverse activities from which to choose and complete, youth explore Unitarian Universalism from multiple perspectives: philosophy, spiritual practice, local church administration and governance, UU history, district and national level events, and so on. The hope is that following this experience, a young person will have a very clear idea of what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist. The program culminates with a special worship service.

Youth Group: Youth Group activities are planned from September through June and anyone in grades 7-12 may join us. Please check the church calendar for special events planned for Youth. Your ideas and input are what make Youth Group work. You may bring your friends.

Other Opportunities for Teens:

Childcare: Babysitters aged 14 and up are welcome to apply to work in our nursery. You do not need to attend our church in order to be considered. The time commitment is usually 2-3 hours on Sunday mornings, sometimes with additional hours during the week. Pay is competitive. Applicants with experience and CPR certification are preferred.

Religious Education (RE) program: For teens who like working with preschoolers or elementary school children, our Sunday morning classes welcome you to assist the regularly scheduled teacher(s). Please contact the Director of Religious Education for more information. This is a volunteer position.
