Sunday Service - Why We Sainted Emerson, and Why We Shouldn't Have Event Details

Close

10:30 am

Ralph Waldo Emerson began his career as a Unitarian Parish minister, but he resigned after three years, finding ministry (and especially pastoral care) not to his liking. He became one of the most influential American thinkers and philosophers of the 19th century, especially famous for "Transcendentalism," essentially a new way of looking at religion as the intuition of each individual rather than an institution of doctrines. It's difficult to build church community that way!

Sunday Service - The Myth of Memorial Day Event Details

Close

10:30 am

Memorial Day is often a day that not just remembers those who died serving their country, but seems to glorify war and encourage an almost religious patriotism that claims our country the one God loves best with "God on our side." Perhaps it is time to make it a day to celebrate peace...
